‘Giving Myself to the Sea’ is a short epic written in Kalevala-meter, telling an ancient story of love and fate’s unyielding power through a rustic approach typical of Estonian stories. The epic tells of a sailor, his three daughters, village women, elves, and several other characters from Estonian folklore. The verses were written at the same time as the composition bearing the same name (2017).
