This book weaves together historical, political, societal, personal, visual, and textile production information of the era with extant examples of children’s clothing and textile samples. Before this publication, primary source material has not been collected in one place for costume designers and technicians. To assist the reader with period recreations of early American children’s wear, this book includes the types of fabric available to the early colonists, historical textile production techniques practiced in the colonies, as well as fabric dyeing and printing techniques used at that time. Primary images of textile production and period textiles accompany this information throughout the manuscript.
