Matt Damon and Ben Affleck co-write and star in this 1990s drama directed by Gus van Sant. In Boston, 20-year-old tearaway Will Hunting (Damon) works as a janitor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. When he writes the solution to a maths problem on a classroom blackboard, he gains the attention of Professor Lambeau (Stellan Skarsgård), and when Will is arrested for brawling, the professor arranges to have his sentence suspended if Will agrees to study with him.

Meanwhile, Will begins dating Skylar (Minnie Driver), a medical student, while also attending therapy sessions with Sean McGuire (Robin Williams). Despite his genius, Will rails against both Lambeau and McGuire´s attempts to help him.
